Chris Pratt's Cowboy Ninja Viking Is Indefinitely Delayed

It's been reported by Collider that "Cowboy Ninja Viking" - which was set to be Michelle MacLaren's feature-length directorial debut - has been put on hold indefinitely and removed from Universal's release schedule. She remains attached to direct, just as Pratt remains attached to play Duncan, a new kind of assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas - a cowboy, a ninja and a viking.

Universal has pulled Cowboy Ninja Viking back from its June 28, 2019 release date, amid hot rumors of heavy turbulence on the set. The movie has gone through several drafts, including an original draft from 'Deadpool" writers Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick, with the most recent draft by "Rampage" scribe Ryan Engle and "Wrath Of The Titans' writer Dan Mazeau - so it's clear that they're content not to rush it simply to make a release date. This meant shooting would need to start soon.

While the film is now delayed indefinitely, according to Collider it's said to still be very much in active development.

Priyanka signed the film after walking out of Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat, 10 days before her portion of the shoot was to begin. In the meantime, we have Avengers 4 to look forward too, which will find Chris Pratt reprising his role as Star-Lord for a forth time. Yes, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has turned a huge profit for Universal, but the sequel will still come in about $400 million below the first film, and let's not forget that Pratt's expensive sci-fi movie Passengers, which paired him with a strong box office draw in Jennifer Lawrence, barely turned a profit.

However, the studio has halted the film removing it from the release calendar and delaying production, reports said.
