Acting President sacks DSS Director, Lawal Daura, after NASS invasion

The attention of former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has been drawn to an illegal and undemocratic attempt by fascist forces to break into the National Assembly for the objective of furthering the agenda to force a change in the Nigerian Senate's leadership.

Images of the incident were shared widely on social media.

A top source quoted by the report said: "What the IGP told Daura was that he had enough police officers and men now manning the NASS and did not need to deploy more personnel there".

According to Prince Secondus, "the siege in National Assembly leaves no one doubt that President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling APC are out to destroy this hard earned democracy all because they can no longer fit into it".

Except for a change of heart, the Federal Government is set to name most senior Director in the Department of State Services (DSS), Matthew Seiyefa, as the Acting Director General of the service.

Later in the day, Buhari's office denied authorising the move, which comes amid a surge of tension between the president and his political rivals.

Saraki's supporters said the blockade was part of a plan to impeach and replace him.

"We urge Nigerians and the global community to condemn this illegal invasion of the National Assembly complex and the attempt to asphyxiate the legislature as undemocratic, uncivilized and irresponsible", said Saraki in a tweet.

"The Presidency's sack of Daura was a damage-control stunt and a knee-jerk gimmick which came as a response to the national and worldwide outcry against the armed invasion of our legislature by security agents as directed by the Buhari Presidency".
