Paul Rudd on the Writing Process of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’

The mid-credits scene is the one that has the most significance to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because it shows Scott Lang fiddling about inside the Quantum Realm, which the film tells us is a very risky place.

It's really odd to think that another Marvel movie is upon us, seeing that most of us fans were had only just been released from the "Infinity War Rehabilitation Centre" following the trauma Thanos caused with half the universe evaporating into dust.

This allows Reed to give us not only a amusing film but a movie that moves at the flawless pace without being bogged down by "explaino" scenes. They've taken their lab-sized bridge to the Quantum Realm and either totally rebuilt it or just conveniently shrunk it down with Pym Particles to fit in the back of a van, and now, Scott's about to make the jump. He's just going in with the Ant-Man suit and a plucky attitude.

The character was conspicuous by his absence in the universe-halving team-up event, especially after being such a scene-stealing part of Captain America: Civil War, with it being waved away as Scott Lang being under house arrest. The ant who'd subbed in for Scott's daily routine is not only home, he's having the time of his life banging on Scott's electric drum kit. But while he is in the Quantum Realm, he loses contact with the Pym family. We learned in this movie that quantum particles can literally affect the nature of reality and can cause (or, significantly, reverse) the phasing of matter between parallel universes. Essentially, it revolves around the film's post-credits sequence, and how it may contain a subtle nod to one of the MCU's greatest ever villains. Combine that with Janet's warning about the time vortex, and we have to wonder if Scott is gonna be involved in some time-travel shenanigans come Avengers 4.

Still with us? This Reddit post from "r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers" concerns the dying moments of Ant-Man and the Wasp's credits stinger, in which Scott Lang comes to the realization that he's trapped in the Quantum Realm without a paddle. "The Quantum Realm does sort of beg these questions not only of very small stuff, but also this whole, you go down deep enough and maybe it's about probabilities and it is about time/space and all that stuff".
