Kawhi Leonard wants to leave Spurs, Lakers favored

San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard reportedly wants to leave the team, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.

A much-speculated trade to the Lakers from the San Antonio Spurs could be closer to reality, according to multiple reports on Friday.

Leonard played in just nine games this season and averaged 16.2 points, 2.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds.

Kawhi Leonard #2 of the San Antonio Spurs is introduced before the game against the Denver Nuggets on January 13, 2018 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Los Angeles is targeting George and LeBron James with those spots, and acquiring Leonard in a trade would make them an extremely desirable destination for both players.

The Knicks have likely the biggest market of any National Basketball Association team, but aside from Kristaps Porzingis, they don't have many assets that would intrigue San Antonio.

Here are three benefits for the Lakers if they pursue Kawhi Leonard in a trade this offseason.

A U.K World Cup In 2030 Should Be A Serious Possibility
Over 1,300 known "hooligans" in Britain have been barred from going to Russian Federation for the World Cup finals. FIFA's 200-plus member associations selected the united bid of the United States, Canada, and Mexico on Wednesday.

Uruguay coach refuses to point finger at wasteful Suarez
With its traditional defensive tactics preferred by coach Hector Cuper , Egypt badly needs Salah and his goals to succeed. Suarez, in particular, had a number of brilliant opportunities to get off the mark but was unable to find the target.

If that should be the case, as it was with the Indiana Pacers and Paul George (and possibly the Chicago Bulls and Jimmy Butler), then the Cavaliers main competition will be the Celtics and Sixers. The NBA draft will be held on June 21.

However, that doesn't necessarily mean Lakers fans should run out and buy purple and gold Leonard jerseys.

Should the Cavs be the favorites? . If the Lakers are unable to convince the Spurs to take on Deng, they will have to convince another team to take on Luol's contract, team's such as the Mavs, Hawks or even the Nets. If the reports are indeed true, the request makes for perhaps the biggest drama the Spurs franchise has seen in more than two decades. The Lakers, 76ers and Celtics were immediately considered viable options given their wealth of draft assets and/or young players on the rise. The Knicks are surely interested.

Maybe a trade never happens, as the Spurs do not need to move him now, tomorrow, at next week's draft, in July's free-agent period, or when training camp starts.

Philadelphia is still a relatively young and unproven team.
