Donald Trump asks USA representatives not to endorse G7 Summit communique

White House chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow, left, and National Security Adviser John Bolton look on as President Donald Trump speaks during a news conference at the G-7 summit, Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Charlevoix, Canada.

U.S. President Donald Trump told Group of Seven leaders that the United States wanted a quick end to trade practices that he says have led to an exodus of American companies and jobs to other countries.

In another tweet launched at Trudeau after the president fled the area, he said Trudeau had "acted so meek and mild" during the summit, "only to give a news conference after I left saying that "US tariffs were kind of insulting" and he 'will not be pushed around.' Very dishonest and weak".

During the summit, Trump had changed the photo on his Twitter page to the "family photo" taken with other G7 leaders.

Calling Modi a "beautiful man", Trump said he was informed of reduction in tariffs on imported motorcycles by the Indian PM but the USA was getting nothing with the cuts in the customs duty.

While both Macron and Trudeau have forged cordial relationships with Trump, they made it clear they would not be intimidated by the USA leader especially in the face of United States tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Europe, Japan and Mexico.

"And we have many deals like that", Trump said, according to PTI.

"I have made it very clear to the President that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.

The US president also has frosty relations with Trudeau, the summit host.

The war of words between Trudeau and Trump escalated after the US president left the meeting early.

According to Trump, who blamed the USA leaders who preceded him for the current trade deficits, the answer is a change in the entire global trading system.

Trump took the action on the grounds that weak domestic industries could affect USA national security.

Alongside the G7 countries, India also came for a tongue lashing and Trump even threatened to cut trade ties with countries who are "being unfair on trade".

Before arriving in Canada, British Prime Minister Theresa May called for fellow European Union leaders to take proportionate responses to the USA tariffs and shrugged off a rebuff by Trump for a formal one-on-one meeting at the G-7.

The US president signaled that he was in no mood to compromise as he met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Mr Trump said: "We had extremely productive discussions on the need for fair and reciprocal - meaning "the same". Angela and Emmanuel and Justin, I would say the relationshiip is a 10", he said.

For the past week, it was an open question in official Ottawa whether Trump would actually show up, given his recent trade actions against the other G7 countries and his increasingly antagonistic comments about their approach to worldwide relations. "With one country we have $375 billion in trade deficits". "We strive to reduce tariff barriers, non-tariff barriers and subsidies", it said, reflecting the typical language of decades of G7 statements.

Officials from European delegations quickly leaked copies of the joint statement to AFP, and it was published publicly online before Trump tweeted.

"And so began a long litany of recriminations, somewhat bitter reports that the United States was treated unfairly, that the trading system was totally unfavorable to the United States, the American economy, American workers, the middle class", the official said. "And I think on trade, there is a critical path, there is a way to progress altogether", he said, speaking in English.

President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he thought Russian Federation should be reinstated as a member of the G8.
