Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) directs from a script by Josh Singer (Spotlight), based on an earlier screenplay by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and the original book by James R. Hansen. Following astronaut adventures like The Right Stuff and Hidden Figures, First Man focuses on Neil Armstrong and his spacefaring buddies at NASA during the Apollo moonshot missions of the late 1960s.

The trailer, released on Friday, teases Armstrong's journey as he prepares for the most risky space mission in history, aboard the Apollo 11 spaceflight. However, on viewing the trailer [VIDEO] of "First Man", it is clear that Armstrong went through some terrifying and uncertain days, training for his mission to the moon. "There are risks but, we have every intention of coming back", Gosling's Armstrong replies. It opens in theaters on October 12th.
