Fekir on verge of sealing Liverpool switch

Liverpool are confident of completing a £55m deal for France star Nabil Fekir in the next 24 hours after Lyon gave the green light to conclude the transfer before the World Cup.

But Aulas has revealed that the transfer is not close and is unlikely to happen before the start of the World Cup next Thursday.

Fekir will be the third new player to arrive at Anfield this summer, behind Monaco man Fabinho who was signed earlier this window, and RB Leipzig's Naby Keita, whose signature was acquired last summer.

The France worldwide had not been expected to finalise a switch to Merseyside before the end of this summer's World Cup.

Nadal continues French Open march
The 36-year-old Williams set up that showdown by making only three unforced errors in the opening set against Goerges, 12 in all. Sloane Stephens advanced too, but the 10th-seeded American had a much more hard time beating Italy's Camila Giorgi 4-6 6-1 8-6.

Nabil Fekir is to undergo a medical with Liverpool on Friday after the Reds thrashed out a fee with Lyon for his services. Didier Deschamps' side play their final World Cup warm-up game against the United States of America in Lyon on Saturday and the manager had instructed his squad to settle any outstanding transfer business before flying to Russian Federation.

Aulas' comments had cast doubt over the deal, with the notoriously hard 69-year-old telling Lyon's official website: "The record is at a standstill, there is no way forward".

'We haven't set a starting price because we haven't discussed that yet'. But his determination to join Klopp's team and Liverpool's willingness to go to €60m appears to have altered the stance of the Lyon president.
