Neymar returns with brilliant solo goal against Croatia

Neymar will play some part in Brazil's pre-World Cup friendly against Croatia on Sunday, head coach Tite has confirmed.

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino then bagged a goal on his own home turf in injury time, to seal the victory.

He quickly made his mark and raised the hopes of Brazilian fans for the World Cup, which starts June 14.

He also sat out training with the national team at Tottenham's London base on Thursday as a precaution.

And when Neymar gave Brazil the lead midway through the second-half, Croatia's attacking players did not have the game-changing quality they required to get back into the game.

True to his word, Tite brought on Neymar at the interval and he appeared comfortable, steering an early shot, from a wide angle on the edge of the area, directly at goalkeeper Danijel Subasic who saved well.

Smith missed wide-open teammate LeBron James during his late-game blunder
He made 19 of 32 shots, added eight rebounds and eight assists and played almost 48 minutes for a third straight game. The Cavs were heavy underdogs heading into the fourth straight meeting between these two teams in the NBA Finals .

Neymar came on at Anfield as a second-half substitute and made a swift impression with a superbly taken goal in the 69th minute as the five-times world champions warmed-up for this month's tournament in Russian Federation.

Coutinho's departure from the Reds in January to join La Liga champions Barcelona left a bitter taste in a number of Liverpool fans' mouths.

Brazil captain and No. 9 Gabriel Jesus was not as impressive in the first half of the match, and was replaced by Firmino after an hour.

The defeat was Croatia's second in their last three friendly games (won one) ahead of the FIFA World Cup. It was only through Neymar's introduction that this was addressed.

Neymar said he was 80 per cent at his best for the Croatia game.
