CNN’s David Gregory on Roseanne: Can’t Blame Trump For Everything

Oh dear: After her show was cancelled on Tuesday over a racist tweet, Roseanne started retweeting supporters' messages claiming she was sacked because she's a Trump supporter.

After deleting the racist tweet that started this whole thing and apologising, Roseanne since claimed her comments were influenced by her use of the prescription sleeping drug Ambien. "I will examine all of my options carefully and get back to U", she wrote.

Sanofi, the maker of Ambien, responded with a statement full of shade: "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication". She told another fan, "She's distancing herself from me and my tweet-she has to".

Barr later apologised for what she called a "joke".

People can't help but weigh in on the Roseanne Barr drama after the cancellation of her ABC sitcom. "If it hadn't happened yesterday, this season would have been so bad for everyone every day because she would have felt like she was [being] taken advantage [of], just like when I left the show".

Like other cast members, he has condemned her racist tweet.

President Donald Trump previously cancelled the 12 June summit but both sides have since made fresh efforts to hold it as planned. Trump, the official said, "can make a fly or no-fly decision anytime he wants", referring to the possible Singapore summit.

She called her own actions indefensible, saying: "I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but.don't defend it please". Confusingly, she has also continued to retweet messages that appear to contradict her apology.

In a since-deleted tweet, Barr wrote that if the Islamist political movement "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby = vj". "I'm exhausted of being attacked & belittled more than other comedians who have said worse". At one point she said she believes she was sacked because of fears over a potential boycott of the show's advertisers.

While "Roseanne", Barr and Laurie Metcalf have all fallen several spots in their respective category odds since the cancellation, Goodman is holding steady in eighth place, two spots off the shortlist.

Barr's combative stance seemed at odds with a series of seemingly honest apologies for what she had done.

One right-wing activist even went as far as to accuse ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey of consulting former first lady Michelle Obama before cancelling her show. Despite the president praising Barr and the high ratings of ABC's Roseanne, he has yet to weigh-in on the controversy. "I created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it. ME".

"I would hope Roseanne's hateful tweets don't indelibly color the work that was done on the show because a lot of talented people worked really hard to make an emotionally honest show and we'd hate for that to be tarnished by all of this", executive producer David Caplan told The Hollywood Reporter.
