Indian Cricket Team & Management Refused to Play Day-Night Test in Adelaide

The day-night Test has been a successful spectacle for Cricket Australia during its short lifetime, but with the Indian officials refusing to accept the fixture as part of the schedule for India's tour of Australia during the next Aussie summer.

However, there is one change in the plan as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to play the day and night Test match in Adelaide.

The ICC Playing Conditions state that a home nation can only host a day-night Test match "with the agreement of the Visiting Board".

"It will be Australia's first home Test of the season - against the world No.1 ranked Test side India - and there will be enormous interest both here and overseas".

The Australians have played four day-night Tests since 2015, three of them in Adelaide, winning all of them.

Emergency in Congo as ebola returns
Congo's health ministry on Tuesday, May 8, described the fresh outbreak as a "public health emergency with worldwide impact." . The disease is believed to be spread by bats, who can incubate the virus without being affected by it.

The moves comes after the BCCI made a determination that their side would benefit from more time before submitting to a pink ball Test and all the natural variations and differences inherent in the differing ball. "We appreciate some Adelaide fans may be disappointed, we know how popular the Adelaide Test is and look forward to hosting India there in December".

"Yes, it's pretty clear that we are not playing a day-night Test in Australia, no doubt about it", BCCI administrator Vinod Rai told AFP earlier this year. The Test match at the Adelaide Oval has become part of the social calendar in South Australia and attracted strong crowds as well as solid television viewing figures around the country.

According to thehindu.com, acting secretary of the BCCI Amitabh Choudhary reportedly contacted Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland via email to inform him of India's position.

As of now, the Indian team has no plans to play any pink-ball Test match and this event will not happen in the upcoming season.

With CA already hosting Day-Night Tests against New Zealand, South Africa and England in the past, and winning all three of them, the CA spokesperson said that the country will still continue to host at least one pink-ball Test each home summer.
