Trump says lawyers have advised him against Mueller talks

Former assistant USA attorney and National Review columnist Andrew McCarthy said Friday the Justice Department should do everything in its power to stop Robert Mueller from interviewing President Donald Trump. "I would love to speak", Trump added.

The president Friday morning told reporters at the White House that he "would love to speak" to Mueller, despite the advice of his attorneys. "I have to find that we're going to be treated fairly", the President said. Trump and he had discussed disclosing Trump's repaying Cohen, and "he was well aware that at some point when I saw the opportunity, I was going to get this over with", Giuliani added.

Giuliani has said that if an interview were to take place, it would need to last no more than two to three hours and involve "a narrow set of questions". "They say, 'That's obstruction of justice.' It is nonsense", he said.

"All I'm telling is you that this country is right now running so smooth and to be bringing up that kind of crap, and to be bringing up witch hunts all the time, that's all you want to talk about", he said.
