Mubi twin blast: 27 confirmed dead

No-one has yet said they were behind the bombings, but the Islamist militant group Boko Haram has launched previous attacks in Mubi.

At least 24 people died on Tuesday in two explosions at a mosque in Mubi, a town in north east Nigeria.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the blasts bore the hallmarks of the armed Boko Haram group, which has waged a deadly campaign of violence in Africa's most populous country since 2009, and often deploys suicide bombers in crowded places.

Witnesses say one bomber detonated his explosives at the mosque, while the other struck a few minutes later in a crowd of worshipers who had fled to a nearby market.
