FIGC commissioner Fabbricini confirms Mancini talks for Italy job

On Monday, Mancini told RAI state radio: "There has not been contact with the [Italian football] federation but, for a coach, the Italian national team would be a source of honour and prestige".

Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is in talks to become the new Italy manager.

"Yesterday [Monday] FIGC's extraordinary vice-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta and Italy team manager Gabriele Oriali met Roberto Mancini, who gave his availability to terminate his contract with Zenit and to take the Italy coach role", Fabbricini said to ANSA.

"We agreed that we will start talking of figures and details on May 13, at the end of the Russian championship".

Negotiations with Mancini picked up after Carlo Ancelotti reportedly turned down the job.
