Windows 10 Spring Update Delay Explained as Microsoft Releases New Build

"This just reinforces that Windows Insiders are critical to helping us find and fix issues before releasing feature updates to all our customers", the Insider team adds.

Microsoft today released Preview Build 17134 to Insiders in the Fast ring and explained the delay of the public release of Redstone 4.

The release of Windows 10 Spring Creators Update was expected this month, but the launch date is now seemingly increasingly likely to slip into May.

The company decided against the rollout of the new version of Windows 10 in what seemed like a last minute attempt at preventing that a buggy release hit consumer systems worldwide. At this point in time, we don't have any idea why the blue screen of death bug was occurring with this new build of Windows 10, but it's good that Microsoft is taking quick action to address the issue.

There is speculation that the final public release of Version 1803 might be a few weeks away yet. However, a blocking bug was discovered that delayed the release to the public nearly at the last minute. Stories did however seem to work as intended on Windows 10 PCs which are naturally more powerful than Windows 10 Mobile smartphones and could handle the extra processing necessary for the real-time video editing.

Microsoft found issues with the Spring Creators update RTM Build 17133 and has made a decision to push a new Build 17134 with fixes to address these issues.

More precisely, Microsoft says it encountered a higher percentage of Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors on PCs, the company's Insiders Program managers said in a blog post yesterday.

Also, keep in mind that Windows 10 build numbers align across the board, so with the Windows 10 release today, we can also expect build 17134 to arrive for the Xbox One and for HoloLens.

Past releases have shown that even smaller Windows updates result in an increased number of bugs and issues that Windows users experience after installation.
