Harley Quinn's Birds Of Prey Spin-Off Movie Just Made History

If the deal is finalized, Yan will become the first female Asian director to helm a superhero film, and will join Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins as only the second woman to direct a DC Films feature. In addition to all the badass women behind the camera, the source material for Birds of Prey features some of DC Comics' most legendary female heroes, namely Barbara Gordon (Batgirl), Black Canary, and Huntress.

This is a bold bet for Warner Bros' Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada, who oversee DC under Toby Emmerich.

Yan will not direct the "Gotham City Sirens" or "Harley vs Joker" films also in contention at Warner Bros.

Benjamin Garre: Manchester City cleared by Cas over signing of Argentine teenager

What James Comey Gets Wrong About Donald Trump
He considered that "the most important thing" in a president is that he tell the truth and that Trump "is not qualified for that". Comey writes that Trump is "ego-driven and about personal loyalty", going on to compare him to a mafia boss who demands loyalty.

Konami Announces New Castlevania Title For iOS
You can sign up on the game's official page to be notified when it launches in Japan; there's no solid release date as yet. It marks the first 2D Castlevania game since 2010's Harmony of Despair, and like that entry it has a focus on online co-op.

Yan will team up with screenwriter Christina Hodson - who was recently hired to revive Joss Whedon's abandoned Batgirl project - and Robbie will produce the film via her LuckyChap Entertainment production company. That would be Dead Pigs, a film that won the World Cinema Dramatic Award For Ensemble Acting at Sundance last January. The other Harley Quinn films are still under construction.

Today brings news about one such project, the forthcoming Harley Quinn spin-off movie, which will - as you surely know - star Margot Robbie, who'll be reprising her role from 2016's Suicide Squad. That includes the Suicide Squad sequel to be directed by Gavin O'Connor. She wrote and directed numerous short films before stepping up to features with Dead Pigs.

Warner Bros. knew Harley Quinn was a breakout character from Suicide Squad, and it's interesting to see that they've made a decision to go with Birds of Prey over Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, or a Harley & Joker movie.
