Flawless Djokovic stops the rot in Monte Carlo

The Mallorcan world number one has been off the Tour since injuring himself at the Australian Open but looks to have recovered just in time for the European claycourt swing he has dominated throughout his career.

Rafael Nadal is eager to continue his love story at the Monte Carlo Masters after a hard time on the sidelines.

But practising in Monte Carlo yesterday, Djokovic looked a man on a mission, determined to put behind him a rocky few months and make again permanent the occasional flashes of brilliance he has shown on-court so far this year.

"Every year I come here with the same passion, with the same motivation to play my best and to give me chances to have the best result possible", he added.

"I played only with the shot clock in IPTL and it was only 20 seconds".

This will not be the first implementation of a shot clock in tennis, as it was trialled during US Open qualifying previous year as well as the 2017 NextGen Finals in Milan and the Exhibition International Premier Tennis League.

WPI inflation hits eight-month low at 2.47% in March
It revised downwards forecast for retail inflation to 4.7-5.1 per cent for April-September and 4.4 per cent for October-March. It may be recalled that WPI inflation was at 5.11 per cent in March previous year .

Serbian former world number one Novak Djokovic will be in action at his home club though - desperately searching for some spark after tumbling down to 13th in the rankings.

"I always feel good when I am here", Nadal said. Earlier this month, he stopped working with Andre Agassi and Radek Stepanek - the latest in a series of coaching changes for the 12-time major champion.

Doubts had remained over his fitness after a recurring hip injury forced him out of Acapulco Open in February.

"It's not great but, I mean, first match on clay, you know, I'm expecting (a) little soreness", said Nishikori. He's arguably not been at his best since losing to Roger Federer in five sets in the Australian Open final, but dropped just eight games across six sets against Kazakhstan in the Davis Cup just over a week ago on clay and is well-rested coming into this event.

He may have to defeat the likes of Rublev and Djokovic before a potential quarter-final showdown with Nadal. "In my experience, on the tennis court, the crowd gets more insane, the crowd gets more emotional and enjoys the match with more passion when you play good points". "Playing well below the desired level, it wasn't easy for me to cope".
