Federation Internationale de Football Association to begin Morocco World Cup inspection

The South Africa Football Association (Safa) has pledged its "unqualified" support for Morocco's bid to host the 2026 World Cup.

South Africa voiced on Monday its backing to Morocco's bid to host the 2026 World Cup.

Federation Internationale de Football Association congress would be making it final decision concerning the host of the World Cup of 2026 on the 13th of June this year.

"The World Cup in Morocco would not only be a source of pride but also a great catalyst for development."The only other bid is a joint one from the United States, Mexico and Canada".

According to Elalamy this visit would "strive to convey the vision of a humble, passionate, determined bid, but above all a professional and solid one".

"It is an old myth that Africa doesn't have the capacity and naysayers should stop using the political argument", he said.

Joseph-Antoine Bell, a former Cameroonian worldwide football goalkeeper, has also endorsed Morocco's bid, emphasizing that Morocco has all the assets to organize a spectacular tournament. The Kingdom has already made unsuccessful bids to host the tournament in 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010.

The country was second to the USA for 1994, behind France for 1998, and lost out to South Africa for the 2010 tournament, the only time the event has been held in Africa.

The final ticket sales phase for Russia's first-ever World Cup, set to take place in 11 cities across the country, starts on April 18 and will run to July 15.

"South Africa showed the way and I am confident Morocco will follow suit".

Quoted by SAFA, Bell said "when South Africa talks on the continent, the rest of the continent listens hence it is vital for South Africa to support Morocco".
