Update: The National Weather Service said late Monday night that a tornado with estimated top wind speeds of 130 miles per hour hit Lynchburg and the neighboring counties of Campbell and Amherst on Sunday evening.

Weekend storms generated five tornados sprinkle across Central Mississippi with one to the North and one near the Coast. On top of the tornadoes we also had over 150 reports of large hail and thunderstorm wind damage as well.

A spokesman for the Summit County EMA says Barberton and Copley were the hardest hit areas during Sunday night's storm.

A North Carolina school system is canceling classes for a second day because of damages caused by a tornado.

Additional storm surveys were still set in Arkansas, meaning the tally could potentially increase if more tornado paths are discovered, according to the weather service. Lexington County being one of the hardest hit areas with downed trees and power outages.

There were several reports by emergency personnel along the way reporting they spotted a tornado so the NWS is fairly confident that that is what they will find through their surveying today. Damage was reported to 160 buildings in Crawford County. There were no injuries from that brief storm.

An EF-2 tornadoe tore through a MS neighborhooed, its 115 mile and hour winds sheering the roof off at least one house. Duke Energy reported about 2,100 customers without service, most in Lancaster and Fairfield Counties.

In Greensboro, police said 48-year-old Anthony George of Greensboro was killed about 5:45 p.m. Sunday when a tree fell on his vehicle.

Sgt. James Cooper with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office said early Monday afternoon that one road in the western part of the county was closed due to high water.
