RECALL ALERT: Rose Acre Farms eggs recalled for bacterial contamination

More than 200 million eggs were recalled by a company after an outbreak of salmonella was traced to one of its farms in North Carolina, US.

Salmonella can causes serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly among children, the elderly and anyone with a weakened immune system. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the agencys testing connected the recalled eggs to the people who got sick.

The FDA announced that 22 cases of salmonella have been reported because of the tainted eggs.

The egg cartons needs to be labeled together with packing dates ranging throughout 102 from 011, with the plant range P-1065. The eggs have been sold in various stores in nine states, including Walmart and Food Lion. "FDA investigators then inspected the farm and collected samples for testing".

"Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella Braenderup can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain".
