Severe Storms Possible for Friday

Severe Storms Possible for Friday

We should see strong to severe storms race through East Texas during the rest of the day today with the stronger storms expected once they arrive in our area. We could be down to near 60° by late afternoon or early evening.

This morning will be quiet, a few clouds, maybe a shower or two. On the flip side there is still a chance that this warm front will move north throughout the afternoon and clear some of the clouds across central and southern Iowa. The upper pattern will get more aggressive over southeastern Louisiana so the storms may be getting stronger as they reach Acadiana around sunrise. South breezes will continue to favor warm temperatures in the mid 70s near the coast to near 80 elsewhere. "Could be strong to severe". It will remain breezy with southerly winds gusting to 25 miles per hour overnight. Here, there is concern that a dry air mass aloft in the middle levels of the atmosphere could block some storms from either developing or intensifying. Along the leading edge of this line is where the greatest threat for strong storms will exist. We'll have to keep a close eye on this today. This means that widespread severe weather is expected with damaging wind, very large hail, and several tornadoes possible. Additional storms are likely through 11 p.m. While the tornado threat is low, it is not zero.

Heavy rainfall is possible across parts of the state, especially across southeast Arkansas, Pyle said. Looks like we'll see plenty of sun for the first half of next week too.

Storms should push east and start to dwindle after 10 PM tonight.

Temperatures are not as chilly, and more comfy to start.

Temperatures are forecast to be a high of 42 degrees and a low of 24 in Colorado Springs, and in the low to mid-30s and high teens in Monument and Woodland Park. Dew points will be on the rise today and that will lead to a more sticky finish to the day today under mainly sunny skies.
