Apple To Mac Users: We Will End Support For 32-bit Apps

Apple began the transition to 64-bit hardware and software technology for Mac over a decade ago, and is working with developers to transition their apps to 64-bit.

Users of 32-bit applications on the MacOS platform could be left high and dry after Apple warned that support would be disabled in a forthcoming update. This was the statement it released for the objective: "The last macOS release to support 32-bit apps without compromise is macOS High Sierra".

Apple is ostensibly hoping that by warning its users, it will prompt developers that know they have 32-bit apps running on Macs to update them and deliver 64-bit integration.

Launching a 32-bit app will obviously trigger Apple's warning, but there's a much easier way to get a full list of all the 32-bit apps you have. Next to a field "64-bit (Intel)', it will say "Yes" if it is a 64-bit app and 'No" if it's a 32-bit app.

Your app will still work after the alert appears; the main goal of the alert is to encourage users to update the app to a current 64-bit version.

The support page explains: "All modern Macs include powerful 64-bit processors, and MacOS runs advanced 64-bit apps, which can access dramatically more memory and enable faster system performance".

The dialogue box also includes a support page link that details Apple's plans for all Mac apps to run in 64-bit architecture.

Egypt lost two friendly matches in March against Portugal (1-2) and Greece (0-1) in Switzerland as part of World Cup preparations. Tunisia have replaced Senegal at the top of the pile in Africa, with DR Congo, Morocco and Egypt completing the top five.

Today Apple started its push of 64-bit apps.

Below you will find more information about the alert and what the 64-bit transition means for you.

"Starting with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4, apps that have not been updated to use 64-bit processes produce a one-time alert when opened". However, it is believed that the 32-bit apps won't work as well as they use to before. Expect Apple to reveal more details about the next version of macOS during this June's Worldwide Developers Conference.

Like with iOS, the goal is likely to ultimately not support older 32-bit apps on macOS at all. Finally in iOS 11 it dropped support for 32-bit apps.

"The 64-bit transition for macOS and macOS apps is still underway, so final transition dates have not yet been established".

Nevertheless, one thing is sure, that Apple is serious about phasing out the 32-bit apps soon. In case of macOS, the company already stopped accepting similar apps to Mac App Store. Second, desktop apps are downloaded from several other sources apart from the MacOS App Store.
