Nest's Video Doorbell & Smart Lock Now Available For Purchase

Google's Nest has confirmed the start of sales of its video doorbell Nest Hello and the Nest x Yale Lock. It connects to the Nest app, so you can unlock the door from anywhere.

Available in Satin Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Polished Brass, the Nest x Yale replaces the traditional key lock on your door a keypad-equipped one.

Similar to other smart doorbells, the Nest Hello features a button that visitors can ring and a camera that shows you who's at your door. The newest of which, the Nest Hello doorbell, is now available for $229.

Gov. Rauner Vetoes Gun Dealer Licensing Measure

Nest has announced a new Temperature Sensor, which will allow the smart themostat to measure the temperature across more locations in your house. Ecobee's sensors also have proximity detectors, which help your thermostat know whether you're home or away. With these devices, users can also have each room automatically adjust with the day's changing temperature conditions - sunlight, darkness, odd weather conditions outside making the inside get all weird - all of that. Multi-level homes, or homes leaking heat or A/C through poorly insulated doors and windows, might find a remote temperature sensor particularly useful. This works in combination with the Nest thermostat to monitor and control the temperature in a specific room.

Nest's external temperature sensors will be available in April for $39 each, or $99 for a pack of three.

The company has also introduced the Nest x Yale Lock. "You'll get an alert on your phone whenever someone locks and unlocks the door", Google explains. "Your indoor cameras turn off to protect your privacy, and your thermostat turns up to make you cozy". One of Nest's main thermostat competitors, Ecobee, already includes a remote temperature and proximity sensor when you buy the $249 Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat (£190/AU$330 converted).
