Delhi sealing drive: BJP hits back at Arvind Kejriwal, Ajay Maken

On a day city traders observed a bandh, AAP and Congress reconciled their political differences to find a way to tide over the crisis resulting from the ongoing sealing drive.

The sources said on Tuesday that the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's advisor VK Jain has resigned from his post mentioning personal reasons and family commitments, days following he was questioned by police in connection with the alleged assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash.

The BJP today made a decision to boycott an all-party meet called by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow to find a solution to problems being faced by traders because of an ongoing sealing drive in the city, even as the AAP slammed state BJP chief Manoj Tiwari for touring overseas at a time when city traders were facing problems.

Maken said the Delhi government has not yet met the monitoring committee since the sealing drive began and added that Kejriwal has also agreed for a meeting with the committee.

The all-party meeting ended up being an AAP and Congress meeting, with the BJP boycotting.

Kejriwal had yesterday written to Maken and Tiwari, inviting them for the meeting at his residence on Tuesday, saying, "We should rise above politics and come together to find a solution to the problems that have risen due to sealing". "We had a very good meeting with the representatives of Congress. BJP boycotted it". They did not want to participate in today's meeting.

He said that another meeting would be called on the issue of sealing if the BJP is willing to attend it.

"We have given a representation to the CM, and will send this to the BJP also, in which we have divided the city into six parts. There is a solution against the ongoing sealing in the master plan and existing laws", Maken told the media. "I have requested Delhi government to ask the director local of bodies to direct the municipal corporations to inform the public about the reasons for sealing before the sealing is carried out". The meeting lasted nearly for an hour and was fruitful, Maken said.

CAIT has also demanded the Chief Minister to notify 351 roads for "mixed land use", which could give legal protection to commercial shops in residential localities. "The government is likely to submit the matter to SC coming Monday", said Sisodia.
