The recall will be carried out in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and will be focused on six models of Amazon's house-brand power banks sold over a almost three-year period.

The affected power bank models include the 16,100mAh, 10,000mAh, 5,600mAh, 3,000mAh, 2,000mAh with Micro USB cable, and 3,000mAh with Micro USB cable.

AmazonBasics is not only very lucrative for Amazon, it's become a trusted brand shoppers turn to when they want a reliable accessory.

The watchdog for safety and quality of consumer products in the United States said about 260,000 units of six kinds of power banks - manufactured in China by Guoguang Electric Co Ltd for Amazon's "Basics" lineup - were part of the recall.

Amazon is recalling some portable power banks due to fire and chemical burn hazards.

Owners should stop using these recalled units immediately. So far, 53 reports of overheating have been logged, including one incident of chemical burns due to contact with battery acid, and four reports of property damage through smoke and/or fire.
