Three militants killed in encounter in J-K's Anantnag

During a search operation, the security forces came under fire from militants triggering an encounter in which three militants including a foreigner Essa Fazili of Srinagar were killed.

As the searches were intensified, some warning shots were fired towards the suspected spot, the group of militants comprising of three members tried to break the cordon and opened fire upon the joint team, SSP said. The militants were identified as Eesa Fazli of Soura area in Srinagar and Syed Owais Shafi of Kokernag.

The identity of a third terrorist is being ascertained. Arms and ammunition including AK 47 rifles, pistols and hand grenades were recovered from the encounter site, Police stated. "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return)". Son of principal, Eisa went missing from his hostel room in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) in Rajouri on 17 August, 2017. Later it was known that he has joined the militants' ranks.
