Gas prices continue on two-week slide

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gas is $2.53, 4 cents cheaper than the state average. The national average has decreased 2.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 23.4 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago. As of today, Virginia has dropped four cents on the week.

AAA Western and Central New York says the slight dip in prices is partially due to quicker maintenance at refineries nationwide and a boost in domestic oil production.

"Dead ahead on the calendar is turnaround season at the nation's refiners, which promises at least some short-term pain for long-term gain", said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, a fuel-tracking website. That price is five cents less than last week and is 20 cents more per gallon compared to this day previous year. Ohio's gas prices have gone down 11.4 cents since last week.

Nashville- $2.38/g, down 2.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.40/g.
