Three in Four Americans Favor Substantial Abortion Restrictions

According to the poll, 76-percent back significant restrictions, including making abortions available only during the first three months of pregnancy, or in the case of rape, incest, or the mother's life being endangered.

The poll, conducted by the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, surveyed 1,267 adults in December and another 1,350 adults earlier this month.

Also Thursday, the Trump administration announced that it would support the rights of health care workers who object to abortion, birth control or sex-change operations based on their religious convictions.

The poll came out just two days before the largest annual pro-life event in America, the January 19 March for Life in Washington, D.C. The yearly march protests the 1973 Supreme Court ruling Roe vs. Wade that legalized abortion nationwide.

"A slim 51 percent majority of respondents describe their abortion position as "pro-choice, ' with 44 percent responding "pro-life, ' and four percent unsure", Benson divulged from the poll".

Statistics recently unleashed by the pro-life organization Knights of Columbus, which commissioned Marist pollsters to conduct the poll, divulge that an overwhelming majority of Americans (76 percent) believe that abortion should be either: 1) allowed only during the first trimester of pregnancy, 2) exclusively permitted under the extremely rare circumstances of rape, incest or to save the mother's life, or 3) banned altogether.

60 percent of Americans oppose using taxpayer money to pay for abortion.

Wenger anxious as Arsenal flop again
But while Wenger confirmed he expected the situation to be resolved soon, he said he did not know what the final outcome would be. Not only that, star players Alexis Sanchez , Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere could leave the club for free at the end of the season.

"Interestingly, this also cuts across political lines in ways that might be a little bit surprising", he said. But the bill, which passed the House of Representatives a year ago, remains stuck in the Senate with no indication that Democrats will allow a vote.

Asked how President Donald Trump has done with the pro-life movement, Walther answered, "When you look at the polling ... some of the actions he's taken track very very well with where Americans are".

54 percent of Americans oppose forcing people to violate their pro-life beliefs when it comes to providing medical services or insurance. The survey does not break out Catholic respondents.

The Knights of Columbus official cited the so-called Mexico City policy that Trump reinstated previous year to ban USA aid to overseas abortion providers. "Almost half of pro-choice respondents said that abortion of a child with a genetic disorder is morally wrong".

About 42 percent said abortion is a "major factor" in how they vote in elections, and at least 70 percent said it is either a major or minor factor.

Interior Right to Life president, Pamela Samash, who helps organize the event, says her goal goes beyond just trying to overturn the legality of abortion.
