Iran sanctions: Tehran vows retaliation over Trump move

Iran's foreign ministry in a statement ruled out any renegotiation of the terms, saying it "will not accept any changes in this agreement now or in the future" nor allow it to be linked to any other issue.

President Trump is re-certifying the Iranian nuclear deal Friday for another 120 days but warned it's the last time, as the USA seeks a tougher agreement against Tehran with European allies, and the administration slapped Iran with fresh sanctions.

President Trump would further couple the announcement with father sanctions to a total of 14 citizens and companies of Iran including the chief of the judiciary in Tehran, Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

Trump said Friday that he would again waive sanctions that were lifted as part of the Obama-era agreement but the administration said he was doing it for the last time.

Zarif responded on Twitter that the deal was not renegotiable and that Trump's stance "amounts to desperate attempts to undermine a solid multilateral agreement".

In a statement later Friday Trump said those who do not work with him to amend the deal are effectively siding with Iran.

Iran has said it's not interested in any renegotiation and would nearly certainly view a side agreement between the USA and Europe as a violation of the deal.

A statement from French President Emmanuel Macron on January 13 called for the "necessary respect" of the nuclear deal.

Liam Neeson Calls Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Hollywood Men "A Witch Hunt"
Hollywood has been hit by a wave of sexual harassment and assault allegations following the Harvey Weinstein scandal. In response to Hunter's allegations Hoffman issued a statement saying the incident "is not reflective of who I am".

It did not specify what any retaliation might involve.

The official also said that the president has made it clear that this is the "last such waiver" he intends to sign, putting pressure on Congress and the European Union to fix the flaws in the deal.

But the president also promised to scrap the landmark agreement in 120 days if Congress and European allies don't meet his new demands for strengthening the deal - throwing down the gauntlet on a signature achievement of Barack Obama's presidency.

Moscow considers comments by U.S. President Donald Trump on the nuclear deal with Iran as "extremely negative", Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in remarks carried by RIA state news agency on Saturday.

Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.

Trump will next have to deal with these decisions in mid-May. "Rather than repeating exhausted rhetoric, USA must bring itself into full compliance - just like Iran".

In his lengthy statement, Trump said the US would work with European partners to remove the nuclear deal's so-called "sunset clauses", which allow Iran to gradually resume advanced atomic activity.

United States officials say the president will work with European partners to try to broker an agreement limiting Iran's ballistic missile activities. At that time, Trump had said the deal would be "terminated" if an agreement wasn't reached. It now expires after a decade.
