Iran dismisses United States pressure to renegotiate nuclear deal

"In the absence of such an agreement, the United States will not again waive sanctions in order to stay in the Iran nuclear deal".

US President on Friday opted to extend sanctions relief provided to Iran as part of the 2015 nuclear deal, but he warned European allies that he would pull out of the pact unless its "terrible flaws" are corrected.

He paired Friday's concession with other, targeted sanctions on Iran for human rights abuses and ballistic missile development.

China will continue playing a constructive role in maintaining and implementing the Iran nuclear deal, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday.

"The American administration has failed to undermine the nuclear deal ..."

Mr Zarif responded on Twitter that the deal was not renegotiable and that Mr Trump's stance "amounts to desperate attempts to undermine a solid multilateral agreement". JCPOA (the nuclear deal) is not renegotiable: "rather than repeating exhausted rhetoric, USA must bring itself into full compliance - just like Iran", Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter account.

Trump made the threat Friday as he extended waivers of key economic sanctions on Iran, keeping the accord alive at least for now. But he said he would work with European allies to remove so-called "sunset clauses" that allow Iran to gradually resume advanced nuclear activities in the next decade.

Warriors G will play Saturday vs. Raptors
Speaking before Friday's game, head coach Steve Kerr said Curry "lobbied" to play but that the team decided he wasn't quite ready. A missed 3 by CJ Miles led to a jump ball, then a scramble for a loose ball that went out of bounds next to the Warriors bench.

Zarif has said Trump's aggressive stance on the deal and Iran generally have also violated the commitment to "refrain from any policy specifically meant to directly and adversely affect the normalisation of trade and economic relations with Iran" in the accord. The next sanctions waivers are due in May.

When Trump threatened in October to abandon the Iran deal, the UK, France and Germany said in a joint statement that they remained committed to the pact, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and to its full implementation by all sides. These penalties largely cut Iran out of the worldwide financial system, until they were suspended by Obama under the nuclear deal.

The decision had been expected since earlier this week.

The EU said in a statement it had taken note of Trump's decision and would assess its implications.

The Republican leader grudgingly agreed to sign sanctions waivers, ensuring Washington will live up to its commitments for another 120 days, but he cautioned it would be "for the last time".

The deal would help uphold the global non-proliferation regime, maintain regional peace and stability and solve "other hot issues" around the world, he said.
