Haiti Volunteer to President Trump

Most of Maine's congressional delegation has condemned President Trump's reported description of Haiti, El Salvador and several African nations as "shithole" countries.

Near the end of previous year, the White House denied that Trump said Haitians had aids and that Nigerians would never "go back to their huts" in Africa during another immigration briefing.

Yet, our billionaire president, born into wealth, wonders aloud: "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" according to a Washington Post report citing two sources briefed on the meeting.

The explosive remarks came during a conversation about the visa lottery program, which benefits some African countries, and about the temporary protected status given to immigrants from certain nations, including El Salvador and Haiti. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), came in an Oval Office meeting with lawmakers on immigration reform.

Another Republican Representative, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who was born in Cuba and whose south Florida district includes many Haitian immigrants, said: "Language like that shouldn't be heard in locker rooms and it shouldn't be heard in the White House".

"Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country", Trump tweeted.

Durbin said when the issue of Temporary Protective Status for Haitian immigrants in the USA was raised, the president responded "Haitians".

"If confirmed, these are shocking and shameful comments from the president of the United States". Never said "take them out".

Donald Trump should apologize for remarks: African UN states
Various African leaders have summoned United States ambassadors in their countries for a full explanation of Trump's remarks. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) told Cheddar. "We are now working to build support for that deal in Congress".

As for the shithole comment, the White House didn't even bother to try to deny it this time around. Sorry, but there is no other word one can use but "racist".

Choosing to leave out the word "s--hole", the paper said that the remarks immediately sparked "controversy and indignation". To no surprise, the president started tweeting this morning, denying that he used those words.

Some believe the president's most recent comments may have made a deal almost impossible.

"I think it's going to go very well", the president earlier predicted.

"The president's physical exam today at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center went exceptionally well", Jackson said in a statement the White House provided to reporters. "We should bring in more people from places like Norway", he added.

Durbin noted that Graham confronted the president about his remarks. His merit-based immigration plan is a slap in the face to a long history of the United States welcoming in people looking to increase their stature in life.

"There is no question in my mind he's a racist", Pinkett, who won season four of Trump's reality show, told MSNBC's Joy Reid.
