Suspect in Knoxville police shooting added to TBI's Top 10 Most Wanted

A man suspected of shooting a Knoxville Police Department officer Thursday night in is still on the run.

Officer Jay Williams was in the middle of a traffic stop when police say Wilson fired his weapon from inside his auto.

Wilson, 31, was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's top 10 most wanted fugitives list early Friday, and a $2,500 reward is being offered for his arrest. Officer Williams was hit in the shoulder, and is expected to survive what authorities have classified as an attempted murder. Wilson is being sought on an attempted murder warrant.

"Thank God that the officer that was shot is doing okay, thank God for that and his family". He has a history of violence and considered unsafe.

As both cars were still moving, Wilson fired one round from a shotgun, Rausch said.

Rausch said Thursday night that he didn't know if Wilson was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
