Thick black smoke still billowng out of #EchoArena vehicle park and it's 3 in the morning, 10 hours after it started, still hearing loud explosions every few minutes from the auto park which is just a few hundred metres away behind my apartment!

A total of 1305 vehicles were in the auto park prior to fire breaking out.

"We are sorry to customers who were due to attend the evening performance of the Liverpool International Horse Show, which was cancelled as a result of the fire, as well as those people whose vehicles were in the auto park and who have been affected by this situation".

The final performance of the Liverpool International Horse Show, which was due to take place in the evening in the arena following a successful three day event, was cancelled.

Emergency Services are advising anyone affected by the fire at Liverpool Echo Arena auto park to direct any vehicle enquiries to their insurance companies (quoting reference number 650 of December 31) and not to call the emergency services.

Nobody got injured, be it humans or horses.

At times, 21 fire engines were on site to tackle the blaze, working all night alongside police, ambulance and the staff of ACC Liverpool, which operates Echo Arena. The popular horse show was cancelled because of the fire, which was brought under control early Monday morning.

Information desks were set up in the surrounding hotels and Liverpool city council opened temporary shelters for anyone not able to make it home.

It said it was looking at alternative parking for its forthcoming events.
