Gal Gadot's inspiring speech highlights a fresh, pointed Critics' Choice Awards ceremony

At last night's Critic Choice Awards, Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot were finally included in the award season fun, with the film taking home a trophy for Best Action Movie and Gadot receiving the ceremony's second #SeeHer award.

Gadot received the prestigious #SeeHer honor from her Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins for challenging female stereotypes not only on-screen but also in the real world.

Although "Wonder Woman" and then "Justice League" were banned over Gadot's starring role, other movies she's featured in - including the popular "Fast and Furious" series, "Criminal", "Triple 9" and "Batman v. Superman" - were all shown in Lebanon. How to Get Away with Murder star Viola Davis was honored with the award previous year.

Not only is Gadot an Israeli, but she is also a former Israel Defense Forces combat trainer.

She also took a moment to highlight the improvements in female representation and the continuing need for more.

'She knew the great importance of this character and what she could mean to the world if well done'.

White House physician says Trump in 'excellent health'
Previous presidential physicals also mostly excluded mental acuity readings, at least any that were disclosed to the public. The 71-year-old president is known to eat his fair share of junk food, and has famously eschewed exercise beyond golf.

The Isreali actor was presented with the prestigious award, which recognises women who push the boundaries in entertainment, for her performance in Wonder Woman. She said, "I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what's right, standing for those who can't stand or speak for themselves".

Gadot added that when she began her career, there were very few female-led films, and even fewer female directors. "There were eight other films in the top 100 which were directed by females".

While Angelina Jolie turned heads in a rather feathered fashion, Nicole Kidman went full-on fuchsia in a stunning sheer Valentino gown.

The actress concluded by saying that as artists, she believes it's "not only our job to entertain, but our duty to inspire and educate for love and respect". My promise and commitment to all of you is that I will never be silenced, and we will continue: band together to make strides, uniting for equality.

Both Jenkins and Gadot are on board to return for Wonder Woman 2, which is scheduled to hit theaters November 1, 2019.
