Stipe Miocic Faces Francis Ngannou In New Main Event At UFC 220

UFC 220 is on the verge of getting even bigger - literally.

After announcing last week that Daniel Cormier will defend his light-heavyweight title against Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 220, Stipe Miocic's third outing as heavyweight champion has also reportedly been added to the 20 January card.

20 at TD Garden in Boston and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. If Miocic were to successfully defend his title, he would be breaking the record for most consecutive heavyweight title defenses in UFC history, cementing himself as one of the top heavyweights of all time.

Now with 10 straight stoppage wins to his credit, Ngannou will face Miocic for the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title sometime in 2018; so impressive was his knockout of Overeem that the Cameroonian has opened as a -160 favorite against the reigning Miocic.

Miocic is riding a five fight winning streak heading into UFC 220, while Ngannou has won ten in a row.

Over the weekend at UFC 218, rising heavyweight star Francis Ngannou put together a highlight reel knockout over the always unsafe Alistair Overeem. It was the seventh knockout victory in "The Predator's" young career.

This would mark just the fourth time in UFC history that the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles would be at stake on the same card.
