NNPC Boss Cuts Short Foreign Trip To Address Fuel Scarcity

Most petrol stations nationwide are now besieged with queues, some are either shut down while those opened are flooded with inevitable queues.

Addressing the fuel scarcity resurgence on Tuesday, Baru guaranteed Nigerians that the NNPC was on top of the situation.

It noted that the corporation had enough stock of fuel to ensure seamless supply and distribution of products across the country.

According to him, "NNPC treats private depot owners (DAPPMA) with priority, by giving them products while they now resell to our members at above the recommended ex-depot price".

However, NNPC's spokesperson, Ndu Ughamadu, in a terse statement said Baru had to return back to the country because of what he called "matter of urgent national importance".

At the NNPC station close to the popular Wuse Market end of the district, queues for petrol were building up to the Aminu Kano Way, while the corporation's mega station along the Kubwa Expressway also had queues for petrol.

THE Federal Government Wednesday gave the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and the Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru the matching order to clear the queues in filling stations in the country before weekend.

"Right now, we are having a total shortage of products because we are not getting supply from our depots". Attendants at the station said they had fuel and were surprised at the sudden build up of queues at their station.
