Gingers have souls too: Here are the 2018 emoji candidates

This time around, new emoji include figures such as a teddy bear, cupcake, party face, and redheads. Many were happy to see that various hairstyles and hair colors (and bald emoji) were added as potential candidates to reflect the diversity in our world.

The exact line up for the new version of emoji is a long way away from being official, but the idea of being able to reverse certain icons is interesting and in some situations will mean people can use them in a whole new way.

According to the latest guidelines proposed by the Unicode Consortium, reversible emoji could be front and center.

The famed UCLA men's basketball program flew overseas to Shanghai, China to kick off their 2017-2018 season. LaVar told "Access Hollywood" he sent Trump three pairs of Big Baller shoes in red, white and blue.

In addition to reversible emoji, the proposed guidelines also contain a slew of other proposed emoji that make great candidates. That being said we still need to wait until January when the final list will be announced.

There are also new animals such as raccoons and llamas, new food & drink items, a new cracker emoji filed under "activities", new objects, tools, household items, symbols, and more. The emoji with glyphs will finally allow the users to flip the direction of the character. There are a couple that didn't make the final cut such as frowning pile of poo, grinning face with OK as eyes, and frowning face with question marks as eyes. However, that can cause a definite change in meaning when exchanging text across platforms. Though these still could make it into the final Emoji 11 update if voted in at the Unicode Technical Meeting in January. Let us know by leaving a comment below!

The proposal to include this change in a future round of Unicode's emoji updates is just a draft at this point and might not ever become a feature on your phone. Apple and other companies would be able to pick and choose which emoji will be customizable.
