The Sensex touched a high of 32,830.91 points and a low of 32,682.52 during the intra-day trade so far. "It was a volatile session ahead of the outcome of RBI's MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) meet tomorrow", Deepak Jasani, Head, Retail Research, HDFC Securities, told IANS. "The recent correction in PSU banks provides an opportunity for investors to accumulate as the long term prospects remains strong owing to healthy recapitalisation".

Asian markets retreated, with Japan's Nikkei falling 0.37%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng declining 1.01% and Shanghai Composite Index finishing 0.18% lower. "We also had some index heavyweights supporting positivity, putting a temporary stop to the negativity that we had seen late last week", said Anand James, chief market strategist, Geojit Financial Services. The Nasdaq Composite index also dropped 26.39 points or 0.38 per cent to 6,847.59 on developments with a probe into Russia's alleged involvement in the U.S. election as well as with progress on a tax Bill in Congress.
