NCAA reverses ruling, grants NC State's Braxton Beverly immediate eligibility

Beverly attended summer school at Ohio State this past summer and then transferred to NC State after former Buckeyes coach Thad Matta was sacked in early June. N.C. State asked the university to reconsider the ruling. The NCAA said it had granted Beverly a transfer waiver based on "additional information," though NCAA spokeswoman Stacey Osburn declined to comment Tuesday beyond the statement.

The NCAA has declared freshman guard Braxton Beverly eligible to compete for the NC State men's basketball team for the 2017-18 season. N.C State's waiver to bypass the undergraduate transfer rule was denied the NCAA in October and the school's appeal was also denied. Braxton wants to thank the NCAA for carefully considering NC State's Request for Reconsideration and permitting him to play this season. Beverly was taking summer school classes when Matta was let go.

Instead, the series will focus on new storylines which take place before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring . Deadline is reporting that Amazon put down close to $250 million to acquire the rights to the much revered J.R.R.

Whatever that new information is, it helped the NCAA arrive at a decision that almost every single observer of the sport has called for in Beverly's situation.

After the NCAA ruled Beverly ineligible, NC State filed two appeals that were swiftly denied. "Braxton is ready to compete for the NC State Wolfpack!" The NCAA originally ruled that because he had attended classes he would be treated as any other Division I transfer and subject to sitting out a year - even though he was only briefly at Ohio State and only looked to leave after Matta's unorthodox firing in the middle of the summer. Wolfpack assistant A.W. Hamilton coached Beverly last season at Hargrave.
