Petr Cech reveals what big change at Tottenham helped them overtake Arsenal

Cech has insisted that finishing above Tottenham this year is not their priority.

Petr Cech has ramped up the mind games ahead of this weekend's north London derby by suggesting the time has come for Tottenham to win a trophy.

Cech told Sky Sports: They've been there in the last few years so now I think they have to make sure they win something to show the progression.

Giggs added that he believes Tottenham will finish third in the Premier League this season, behind the two Manchester clubs, meaning that Spurs will finish above their bitter rivals Arsenal for the second season running. "One odd year where things can change, the most important thing for us is that we are competing against Premier League sides for the title and the glory, not just Tottenham Hotspur".

This term, third-placed Spurs are already four points and three places clear of Arsenal, who trail leaders Manchester City by 12 points.

Despite their rapid improvement under Pochettino, Spurs are still in search of their first trophy since their League Cup triumph over Chelsea back in 2008 and Cech believes it's high time talk of a north London powershift was backed up with silverware.

"Last year was a odd season, we had more points but we finished outside of the top four".

"Spurs are the better team right now but to really have the upper hand they have to do it consistently over the new few years, although with the talented young squad they have I don't see why that won't be the case".
