Mozilla launches Firefox Quantum, its fastest browser ever

It has a new User Interface (UI) that is called Photon, and its goal is to modernize and unify anything that we call Firefox while taking advantage of the speedy new engine. This standard's already supported by rival browsers and is now Firefox's extension platform too.

The company uses its next-generation browser engine (Project Quantum) for improved performance.

Mozilla claims that Quantum is faster than Google Chrome on a number of popular websites, including Google search, Google's login page, Wikipedia, Bing, Tumblr and Shutterstock. This timeframe's work includes a "completely overhauled core engine" and "brand new technology stolen from [Mozilla's] advanced research group".

Mozilla released a test version of Firefox Quantum web browser in September in preparation for its upcoming official debut in November. Mozilla claims that Quantum also uses 30% less memory than Google's Chrome browser, and is meant for those who surf the net by opening a million different tabs and rapidly switching between all of them.

Other features included with Firefox Quantum include a new Screenshots tool, which lets you capture images of your browsing sessions and share them directly from within Firefox.
