Chinese Tourists Attacked and Robbed in Paris Hotel Parking Lot

A group of 40 Chinese tourists was attacked with tear gas and robbed during a shopping spree in Paris by four suspects, according to China's Embbasy as reported by Daily Mail, Sunday (11/5/2017).

Four men targeted the Chinese travellers in the parking lot of their hotel in the Val-de-Marne suburb southeast of Paris on Thursday, on their return from a city tour, the state-run Xinhua news agency said, citing French media.

Attacks on Chinese, Japanese and Korean tourists are relatively frequent in the French capital, as robbers believe they carry large sums in cash and their luggage is stuffed with expensive products.

The four suspects ran into the vehicle park and began spraying tear gas at the tourists, Xinhua cited local media reports as saying.

The exact value of the stolen goods had not yet been calculated.

A hotel worker told Le Parisien: 'I heard screams, and when I looked out the window, I saw two people assaulting a Chinese guide, and I saw others using tear gas against the tourists.

They added that there was then panic for roughly an hour.
