India's Nehra to retire from internationals

Veteran speedster Ashish Nehra has made a decision to retirement from global cricket after the first Twenty20 match against New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla, his home ground, on November 1.

Today (October 11), a "Press Trust of India" report said Nehra had informed captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri that he will retire on November 1 (Wednesday) after India-New Zealand T20I game in Delhi.

"Obviously, there is some element of surprise". After being omitted for the West Indies and Sri Lanka series, Nehra was recalled for Australia's T20I leg. Since India play their next T20 in Delhi, Nehra prefers to play that match,"a BCCI official told the news paper".

Overall, Nehra has 44 Test wickets, 157 ODI wickets and 34 scalps in T20Is.

"He (Nehra) called the entire squad and said he is calling it quits from worldwide cricket".

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Earning Favorable News Coverage, Analysis Shows
Following the transaction, the executive vice president now directly owns 494,360 shares in the company, valued at $7,351,133.20. Harfst & Associates Inc. bought a new stake in shares of Hewlett Packard Enterprise during the 1st quarter valued at $127,000.

"Had there not been a match at Kotla next month, Ashish would have retired after playing the third T20 worldwide [of the ongoing series against Australia] at Hyderabad on October 13", the official said.

The official added: "Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are form bowlers and Ashish felt that it's only fair in the interest of the team that they continue".

It is understood that Nehra won't play even in the Indian Premier League's next season. "Bhuvi has improved as a T20 bowler in leaps and bounds, and Ashish said that the pair should continue". His spell of 6 for 23 against England in that competition remains his best figures in One-Day Internationals and also the best-ever by an Indian bowler in a World Cup game.

The Kotla T20 will give Nehra a chance to finish his injury-plagued career at his home ground.
